Getting started

No. Piano One listens to your instrument through your phone’s microphone. Acoustic piano, digital piano or a simple keyboard: put your phone on the music stand and play.

Yes, Piano One is designed for complete beginners. The first lesson teaches you to find C, and each new idea arrives just when you need it.

Ten minutes a day is enough to make progress. A lesson takes about 5 minutes: playing a little every day beats playing a lot once a week.

On iPhone and recent Android phones. All you need is a working microphone and somewhere to put your phone near the keys.

Listening

Move your phone closer to the keys, reduce noise around you and check that your piano is in tune. The Help centre also explains how to calibrate listening.

Piano One needs to hear your instrument: play with the piano’s sound on, without headphones, so notes can be recognised.

No. Sound is analysed live on your phone to recognise notes, then immediately forgotten. Nothing is kept or sent to our servers.

The first lessons are free, no card needed. The Piano One Premium subscription unlocks the whole path and every song.

Settings and progress

No. Download the app and play: no sign-up, no password.

On your phone. It follows you from lesson to lesson, and it is erased if you uninstall the app.

In the app, open Settings, then Playing preferences, then Note names, and choose Do Re Mi.
